Mapping Structure

This page details the core functionality of Structure Lab: placing, moving, tagging, editing, and saving structure markers.

Mapping structure using a mechanical process is the most important step in using Structure Lab. This ensures precise data mining and statistical insights.

Let's first cover the basic operators for mapping market structure in Structure Lab. We'll get to the saucy stuff in the last section and tie all of this together with a demo.

Activating Structure Markers:

  • Swing Markers: Used for major structural highs/lows.
Activate by pressing ALT + Left mouse button. Then Drag and Drop onto a Swing High/Low.

  • Internal Markers: Used for smaller internal price movements within a swing range.
Activate by pressing ALT + Right mouse button. Then Drag and Drop onto an Internal High/Low.

Placing Structure Markers:

  1. Activate a Swing or Internal marker following the instructions above.

  2. Drag the marker to the high or low of a specific candle.

  3. To place, simply release your mouse button. Once placed, a dialog box will open where you can tag the marker with:

    • Phase: Identify which phase of structure it represents (A, B, C, or D).

    • BoS (Break of Structure): If applicable, confirm a break of structure.

    • LQ (Liquidity Interaction): Tag if the structure is interacting with a liquidity pool

Editing Structure Markers:

  • For both Swing & Internal Markers: Hover over the marker. When that marker's databox appears, simply press ALT + Left mouse click. The Tags window will open and you can edit the tags. When finished click Submit.

Deleting Structure Markers:

  • Individual Delete: Hover over the marker. Once that marker's data box shows, press CTRL + Left Mouse button to delete.

  • Multiple Delete: Press and hold SHIFT + Left mouse button. Drag a (red) rectangle around the markers you want to delete. Release the mouse button and the group will be deleted.

  • Entire Chart Delete: Click the Red Reset button in the toolbar. This removes all Structure Markers from the chart. You can bring them back by clicking on View Structure. But, to permanently delete them, click the Save button in the Toolbar after they've been removed.

Saving & Viewing Markers:

  • In the Toolbar, Click Save to save your mapped structure.

  • You can see how many structure points you have mapped for the timeframe you're looking at by looking at the Structure Counter in the top right of the Toolbar.

  • The Structure Counter only shows the Structure count for the timeframe of the chart you are viewing.

  • However, you can view higher timeframe structure on lower timeframe charts. This makes mapping your lower timeframes super easy as you'll see in the demo two sections ahead.

  • To view structure from a higher timeframe, use the dropdown located in the View Structure section and select the timeframe you want to overlay on the current timeframe.

  • To clear all structure from the chart, click the Reset button (next to the save button). This will clear all Structure Markers from the chart. You can bring them back by clicking the View button again.

  • CAUTION - if you save a blank chart after you've cleared all the Structure Markers it will permanently delete all markers.

📌 Important Note:

For placing, editing, or deleting ALL Structure Points:
You must click on the Save Button in the Toolbar above the chart for any changes you've made to your Structure Markers.
Leaving the current chart before you've clicked Save will reset any changes you've made if you don't SAVE first.
